Project Complete – Line 7 Blender East Kilbride

This project involved replacing the 25+ year old obsolete Mojonier Blender’s electrical control panel on a PET bottling line in East Kilbride.

We decommissioned and removed the existing control panel, containment, and equipment, leaving only the machine chassis frame and product tanks. We designed and manufactured a new electrical control panel to modern CCEP standards, using S7 PLC controls, Danfoss variable speed drives and Festo pneumatic air manifolds. Alongside this, we produced a new electrical drawing and redrew the air manifold layout to reflect the redesigned panel, updating manifold positions and removing components that are no longer part of the system.

All existing motors were dispatched for refurbishment where they were rewound to British standards, powder coated and fitted with new terminal boxes.

We initially suffered a few teething problems with integrating S7 onto the existing Allen Bradley network but once the commissioning was complete and various software updates were implemented over several production runs these issues were overcome. The site CCEP team has reported that the machine’s reliability and performance so far, has exceeded initial expectations.

Thank you to all the BSB team involved in success of this project and the CCEP automation, production and management teams for their support and assistance throughout.
